JOE NYC has partnered with Solar One to develop and execute a solar roadmap in order to deploy cost-effective solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on its portfolio of multifamily affordable properties in NYC, reducing its operating expenses and environmental impact. Through this partnership JOE NYC has evaluated its portfolio’s solar potential, identified solar ready roofs, and developed a financing strategy to support rapid and cost-effective solar adoption. This Request for Proposals (RFP) is part of a larger, ongoing effort to deploy solar on JOE NYC’s growing portfolio of buildings as roofs are replaced and as additional solar ready buildings are transferred into the JOE NYC portfolio by its member organizations.
This RFP is for solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for a target list of JOE NYC’s “solar ready” buildings; a 72-building subset of the 220 buildings in the portfolio. We estimate that these 72 buildings can support more than one megawatt of rooftop solar PV capacity. JOE NYC is seeking competitively priced, high quality proposals from solar companies with significant NYC multifamily installation experience. JOE NYC’s objective is to initiate installation on all viable sites before the end of 2018. For buildings undergoing rehabilitation, solar will be installed after roof work has been completed, likely in the latter part of 2018 or early 2019.
JOE NYC’s solar ready properties have been segmented into two segments based on the estimated size of the potential solar PV systems; Segment 1 (>15 kW-DC per building); and Segment 2 (5-15 kW-DC per building). Respondents may submit proposals for Segment 1, Segment 2, or both segments together.
Segment | Number of Buildings | Avg. Est. System Size | Total Est. Capacity |
Segment 1 (>15 kW-DC) | 24 | 26.7 kW-DC | 640 kW-DC |
Segment 2 (5-15 kW-DC) | 48 | 8.7 kW-DC | 415 kW-DC |
TOTAL | 72 | 14.7 kW-DC | 1,055 kW-DC |
This is an open RFP and all qualified solar installation companies are invited to submit a proposal.
