In March 2017, a representative from Community Retrofit NYC, a City-funded energy efficiency program, introduced Solar One to the board of 838 Park Place HDFC, a limited-equity cooperative that was interested in exploring a solar project for their building. Through the Here Comes Solar program, Solar One provided the building with free comprehensive technical assistance including onsite assessment, board consultation, and assistance soliciting bids from qualified local solar installation companies. In October 2016, a board member of 660 St Nicholas Ave read an article about Solar One in the New York Times and reached out to see whether solar would work for his limited-equity cooperative. In the summer of 2016, the Director of Housing at Housing Works, a supportive housing organization reached out to Solar One about solar for their portfolio of buildings. Nazareth Housing, 721 E 6th St, NY

In the summer of 2016, a representative of Nazareth Housing attended a solar workshop as part of the Solarize LES campaign, a project of Solar One’s Here Comes Solar program and Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES).  Solar One provided free technical assistance, with a remote assessment to determine solar feasibility, an onsite assessment, estimates of costs and savings for various solar designs and financing methods, comparing an outright purchase with a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), and finally supporting the financing and installation process itself. [Read the full case study…]
